It started from this headband

Have you ever found yourself suddenly in the dark – such as power cut at home or your car stopping in the middle of a poorly lighted street or dropped something in a movie theater?  Certainly, at one point or another, you have tried to see in the dark or look for something in the dark with the use of a flashlight.  However, what if you need both your hands to fix something while in the dark? How do you hold the flashlight and fix your car engine or a faulty wiring at the same time. Some people were smart enough to get a headband holder flashlight for times like these and Nite Ize have been manufacturing these products for over 20 years now.

The Headband Mini Flashlight Holder was actually the reason why the company was started in 1989 by company President, Rick Case.  He was a University of Colorado undergraduate at the time and the idea hit him while he was on a fishing trip one night.  He was fishing in the dead of night, holding a flashlight with his mouth.  As he was bound to do, he instinctively opened his mouth and the flashlight fell into the water.  That was when he thought a headband holder for a mini flashlight would have been handy.

Rick Case built his company out passion, creativity and perseverance.  He knew his business was starting to take off when he received his first order of 42,000 headbands, while running the company in his Colorado mountain cabin.  From then on, Nite Ize diversified into manufacturing all sorts of flashlight accessories such as flashlight holsters that can be attached to belt or leg, Lite Bites – that enables us to grip flashlight with our mouth and free our hands, Grip ‘N Clips, Lite Rings and many others. Are there small area where light can’t shine in such as deep but rather small hole? Nite Ize has Fiber Optic Adapter that makes light ‘bend’ and shine those area. These accessories give us many ways to hold flashlight and carry it around comfortably and conveniently. With this, the company continues to diversify and its facilities in scenic Boulder, Colorado also continue to make room for the production of many other innovative products.

As part of its expansion goals, Nite Ize has just acquired the LED light brand, INOVA, from the Emissive Energy Corp. this year.  INOVA is an industry leader because of its performance, excellence in design, technology and engineering.
