We all are aware of the harmful effects of deforestation and how down the years, future generations are going to bear the brunt of it.

This particular problem is serious because it lays the foundation for bigger issues. And, it is due to this particular fact that governments are trying to deal with this issue in a better way. But, a major test for all the governments, environmentalists and individuals is to realize and inculcate ways in which they can curtail deforestation.

When you actually dig deeper into the details to know the reasons of this particular issue, it becomes clear that man has no one to blame but to himself. In the last few decades, man never thought twice before chopping down a tree. Whether it was for fuel, space or the wood, a tree was the first victim of man’s greed. But, it is a fact that the industrial revolution was the first beginnings of deforestation in large doses. This brought about huge amounts of climate changes and brought about the degradation of the environment.

The first step to stop deforestation is to put into practice the reduction of overutilization of resources. The moment people use things made from trees such as paper frugally, they will be able to curb the menace of deforestation. There are several little things that all of us can do to stop the lucky march of deforestation.

Start thinking of the two R’s which is Re-use, and recycle. This will ensure that there is less pressure on the forests. Promise that you will not use or support any activity that includes the cutting of forests. Carry your own shopping bags and wean yourself away from anything to do with plastic. Think before you print anything off the computer. Read online and everything that you read need not be printed. Learn to live in a paper free office or home.

Ensure that your government has enough support to declare forests regions as protected areas. Curb encroachments and poaching of animals.

Start using fuel and electricity carefully. How many times have you noticed the lights, fans, television and what have you, turned on in the house and the entire family huddled in one room, or have you ever counted the number of lights at work? You will be certainly amazed at the amount of carbon footprint that we leave behind us.

If after you have done everything for deforestation, you might want to consider healing the earth in your own little way. Plant trees and nurture them at every opportunity. Make it your maxim that for every tree cut you will vow to plant two of them in its place.

These are little and simple things that will go a long way in preserving and keeping the planet as good as it can be, for the future generation. Forests are the lung spaces and they benefit us in unimaginable number of ways.

Portable devices like mobile phones and music players are not totally portable as you would routinely need to connect to a wall outlet to recharge its battery. Regardless of how much charge your device can hold, there is no escaping the need to go home and hook it up to a wall outlet.

There has been a few attempts at creating other devices that can provide power to your portable devices while you are away from home. One of these is the solar charger, which can convert the power of the sun into electricity. This is a really good method of charging a device, especially when you are camping or trekking out in the open. A common problem with most solar chargers is when you run out of juice at night. Since there is no sun, you can’t charge your device and would have to wait till morning to charge.

Solio has created a line of solar chargers that combines the portability of a solar charger and the ease of use of a wall outlet. These are called hybrids and packs a rechargeable battery inside. You can leave the solar charger out in the sun to charge while you are still using your device. Once you run out, you can charge your device with the power from the battery of the solar charger regardless of whether the sun is out or not. The battery within the Solio Hybrid Solar Charger can hold enough electricity to charge a typical mobile phone twice before running out of electricity.

Another cool feature of the Solio products is in its ability to draw from the wall outlet. You can quickly charge it up before you leave so that you already have a reserve even before you leave the house. Although you might not need to use it that often, it just gives you the extra flexibility to ensure that you always have enough electricity to power your devices.

The Solio Hybrid Solar Chargers are not restricted to mobile phones as you are provided with multiple types of adapters to let you charge a multitude of other devices. You can use it to charge your iPods, PDAs, digital cameras, PSP, and even GPS navigation devices. The batteries inside the chargers can last up to a year of use. And when the performance deteriorates, you can easily access and replace them with new ones.

The Solio Hybrid Solar Chargers are excellent for people who like to go outdoors but still likes to enjoy the amenities of modern technology. Although the price might seem a little bit high for a charger, the cost would gradually be recovered as you are paying nothing to charge from the sun.
