iPod, the magical device

Sunday, October 11th, 2009 by macinger84

iPods have been very famous from the moment of its introduction up to the present and it has revolutionized the personal music player market. From the oldest classic iPod that contains a very simple screen and a minimal storage capacity to the newest iPod touch that omits the intuitive click wheel for an even more intuitive touch screen. iPods come in a range of form factors to fit the needs and personality of every person who wants one. Apple has also improved each line, releasing a new version periodically.

11

The classic iPod is still available but not in its original form, as a lot of extra features have been added to it. It also comes in a package that is a lot smaller and sleeker than the ones that came before it. It’s 2.5 inch color LCD screen can show a lot of detail when viewing videos. It’s massive 160GB storage capacity lets you store up to 40 thousand songs or 200 hours of videos, you can also store pictures on it. It’s battery is also excellent as you can listen to music for up to 36 hours or watch videos for 6 hours non stop.

Although the classic iPods has everything that you need in a portable media player, it doesn’t really fit very well when you are jogging. For this, the shuffle seems like a custom fit. It’s small and compact form fits very well inside your pocket or on your arm. With up to 4GB of storage which translates to a thousand songs, you are sure to have an ample supply of songs when you are outside. Even though it is quite small, it still packs an ample amount of battery power as you can continuously play music up to 10 hours. Even the strongest ironman would be hard pressed to run out of battery in a single run.

ipodclassic

The Nano is a product that is somewhere between the classic and the shuffle. It is still packed with the same features of the classic but reduced to fit the smaller size and smaller budget. It has a 2.2 inch screen and up to 16GB of memory where you can store songs, videos, and pictures. Its small size means that it fits in most people’s pockets and it is a great device to carry around so that you have something to listen to when you are in the bus or the train. The iPod Nano 4th generation also comes with a video camera at the back that allows you to shoot videos with whenever you want.

It is quite easy to choose between these three devices as they are clearly cut for certain roles. But even if they still generally serve the same purpose, some people buy one of each so that they always have an iPod no matter what they are doing.

Mac vs PC

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 by macinger84

Personal computers which are usually running the Windows operating system from Microsoft is the most popular platform that most people use, but it is not necessarily the best as it is prone to a lot of problems that causes headaches to user and sometimes even lost data and income. The Mac is Apple’s response to the PC. Macs used to operate on a different architecture as the PC but they have now moved to Intel as a provider of their hardware.

The advantage of Windows PCs is in its flexibility and the huge number of software that can be installed on it. Because majority of people who are using computers use Windows, there is a lot of incentive for programmers to build programs in that platform. But this advantage also results to a vulnerability that malicious people can take advantage of to exploit your computer and even cause a lot of damage to your files;  malware.  Malware is the collective term for virus, worms, trojans, scripts, and many other types of code that tries to gain access and wreck havoc on your files. This problem is aggravated by a lot of security flaws in the Windows operating system that makes it quite easy for malware to hide itself while removing certain features or capabilities in your computer.

11

Macs are not that prone to this problem compared to the PC. Because Macs only represent a small fraction of the computers in the world, malicious people do not pay as much attention to it as they cannot cause as much damage as when they target PCs with Windows. Macs are also pretty secure making it quite difficult even for the most persistent programmer to exploit. This is also true when it comes to software you can install, as there are much fewer options in Mac compared to PCs.

22

With every release, Apple makes sure that their software and hardware works flawlessly. This is the reason why upgrading with Macs is often a hassle free experience unlike with Windows. Microsoft does not control the hardware that are used with their operating system. This often leads to incompatibilities and numerous problems once you try to move from one Windows OS to another. If you do a little research, you can find out which versions of the Windows operating system were hated by the general public.

If you want a new computer that you can use for your work or pleasure, and you want it to be reliable, a Mac is an excellent option. Not to mention that Macs often look much better than PCs.
