The advances in technology have made laptops faster, smaller, and better overall. One of the problems that plague a lot of laptops is the heat that needs to be dissipated. With computers, this is also a problem, but the big size of a CPU allows users to install big fans or liquid cooling systems that keeps the heat in check. With laptops, this is a very big issue because the small size of the laptop leaves no space to install a lot of fans. Having big fans also consumes a lot more electricity which drains the battery much faster. The heat posses a threat to the lifespan of the components within the laptop. Operating for extended periods at very high heat levels can cause the components to fail much faster than usual. The heat can also be felt by the user through the areas beneath the keyboard where the user puts his wrists on to type. This causes discomfort and some users find it difficult to work with that much heat.

The common method of relieving the heat from within the laptop would be to use a cooler where you place the laptop on top of and the fans in it would drive the air to the laptop. This works rather well and the heating effect is minimized but it is not very portable as it is quite big and it requires extra space on your bag.
