Waterproof materials are known for their convenience and ultimate protection. One can do anything in all conditions if everything could only be waterproof. A popular outwear called Gore-Tex makes use a thin layer of expanded fluoro-polymer that is coated with a layer of nylon or polyester-bonded urethane. The effect is it draws up liquid to the surface and does not allow water to penetrate.

Waterproofing is an important part of shoe maintenance, and the latest leather shoes should be waterproofed when you purchase them, as well as conditioned. But you can also waterproof your shoes if it is not already waterproofed by applying beeswax on their surfaces. Just don’t apply this on shoes made with delicate leathers like suede and nubuck.

Construction and Home
Waterproofing is also common in building and construction. Contractors now perform waterproofing of internal floors and walls, joint sealing and caulking, protection of metal surfaces, and thermal insulation of surfaces. In DIY projects at home, silicone sealant is often to close gaps and protect surfaces.

Gadgets and Technology
Digital cameras and cell phones are also going waterproof now by encasing them in waterproof seals and gaskets. People just want the ability to point and shoot their camera everywhere, including underwater, cross country, river rafting and hiking without having to worry about the rain, mud, water and other elements. And most models are compact enough to fit into their pockets and backpacks so you can take them anywhere. Don’t forget water-resistant watches that are good up to water depth of 50 meters up.

Motor Sports watches have an almost identical specifications with water sports watches except for the chronograph 1/20 and its 100 meter water resistance. The Lifestyle watches are dress watches in leather or stainless steel bands.
