Start Your Dream Garden with These Gardening Products

Most homeowners dream of a lovely garden as much as they dream of their ideal kitchen or family room.  Just imagine a front or back yard that is in full bloom with dozens of flowers, freshly cut grass, with small trees and bushes dotting the scenery.  It makes for a nice setting for a relaxing afternoon tea or the perfect quiet ambience for reading a good book, right?

However, you will realize that dreaming about your ideal garden is the easy part.  Making it a reality is the grueling part of the process.  It takes a lot of hard work, skill and the willingness to know which plants are suitable for your lifestyle and how to take care of them once they have been planted.

Green Lawn Edging

1. Pick a Spot

Before embarking on this home project, you must first carefully pick the spot to place your garden.  Make sure it is a place where you can enjoy seeing it from home, because this is ultimately for your own enjoyment.  Once you have picked the spot, you must then check the quality of the soil.  If you need to improve on its quality, you may use compost to help. If you need to separate area, you may use the lawn edging to define the areas.

2. Prepare the Bed

The next step is to prepare the bed, as the spot you have picked must surely have grass and/or weeds growing out of it.  Removing the sod can be done with a flat-edged spade.  For small plant boxes, a Large Gardena Hand Trowel may be enough to do the job.   It is 8.5 cm wide, made of high-quality steel and comes with 25 years of warranty.  You may also need to use Gardena Leather Gloves to protect your hands from all the manual labor you will need to do at this time.  These are ideal for heavy work such as digging, stacking or chopping. The gloves are made of high-quality leather from cow hide at the area that is used the most, like the fingers area.

3. Choose your plants

Gardena Hand Trowel

Choosing the plants you want in your garden is one of the trickier parts.  You will need to spend a lot of time reading up on the plants you think would fit your garden and imagining them with other plants in your head. You would need to choose ones that are suitable with your city climate and your garden soil condition too. But once you have known clearly which ones are right for you, you may proceed on planting them.  You will need a variety of tools for planting and transplanting. Aside from the Large Gardena Hand Trowel, you may want to add in the 7.5 cm Gardena Hand Fork and the 6 cm Narrow Gardena Hand Trowel to your list of tools.  Like the Large Gardena Hand Trowel, these are also made of high quality steel and come with a 25-year warranty.

4. Protect your hands

Those who garden all the time usually prefer to do the work with their bare hands.  However, if you are particular about your hands and would like to protect them from possible wounds, insect bites, et cetera, then use gloves to protect them.  The Gardena Planting Gloves are made especially for this.  They have non-slip palms and made of soft cotton tricot material, ideal for handling flower pots, planting, replanting and transplanting.
