Airsoft – all you want to know!

Airsoft is a team game that simulates an armed combat, with a high level of reality. Even though this type of game was at first practiced in Japan, it quickly spread all over the world and it soon became a popular activity. In Italy, for example, it is considered a sport and it is administrated as such (with referees, airsoft clubs and competitions).

I will get a bit “technical” and I will explain to you the rules of playing this game.

  1. For someone to participate at this game there are a few requirements: the person has to be over 18 years old, psychicaly stable, to have his own equipment and to agree with and respect all the rules of the game.
  2. In this game can participate two or more teams that are armed and equipped according to the airsoft regulations.
  3. Usually the game takes place in an open space and it has a well-established scenario. The players decide on the duration of the game, its objectives and the borderlines from the beginning and these facts cannot be changed throughout the game playing.
  4. The guns and equipments that are used in this game are especially designed for it. The ball that comes out of the guns barrel never exceeds the power of one Joule so that none of the players could be hurt during the game. The bullets are usually made of plastic, polistiren or other soft materials.
  5. When a player is considered “dead” he must immediately wear a red cap or to fasten a red ribbon on his hand, arm or else can be obvious and to get out of the game scene as quickly as possible. The rules say that he cannot talk to anyone who is still active in the game and cannot share his guns.

There are a few restrictions the players should be aware of:

  • One cannot play without protective goggles.
  • One cannot shot at the one who wear the red ribbon or at the persons that are near the territory of the game (like local neighbors, curious people, friends that join etc).
  • One cannot talk or establish any sort of relations while the game play.
  • One cannot participate at this activity while being drunk or under the influence of drugs.
  • Any breaking of the rules can get one expelled out the game.

Keep in mind that the role of this game is in the first place relaxation, a getaway in the middle of the nature in order to neutralize all the bad emotions and aggressive thoughts.
